Privacy Policy

Where your documents live, how reading progress is saved, and how you can manage and delete your data.

Effective and updated: September 8, 2026

Your reading content is processed on your device. EasyRead requires no account and has no advertising, behavioral analytics or developer-operated cloud sync. It does not automatically upload your documents, library or reading history to us. Operating-system backups, file providers you choose, and requests to this website are explained below.

1. Scope and operator

This policy applies to the EasyRead (轻松阅读) mobile app provided by Mike Johnson and the privacy website at easyread.vector-nest.com. The Android application ID is com.vectornest.easyread.

EasyRead is a local reader for PDF, EPUB, TXT, Markdown, images and CBZ. We do not operate an account system or require your name, phone number or identity documents. The app does not collect advertising identifiers, precise location, contacts or cross-app activity.

2. Data processed on your device

To display documents, organize your library and resume reading, the app processes and stores locally:

  • Files you choose, import or share with the app, and local copies or caches needed to display them;
  • File names, formats, sizes, content hashes used to detect duplicate files, and last-opened times;
  • Library status, reading positions, progress, bookmarks, and preferences such as font size, dark reading and continuous scrolling.

This information stays in the app's local storage. We have no backend that receives this reading data and do not sell, rent or use it for advertising profiles. The developer cannot remotely access, recover or erase your on-device library.

3. File access and PDF passwords

The app reads files selected through the system file picker or deliberately sent to it through Open with / Share. It does not request all-files storage access. Temporary reading may create a local copy and a recent-history entry. Add to library saves a copy in the app's library directory.

Reading components parse and display files on your device. The current app does not use online document conversion, online OCR or AI upload analysis. Scripted EPUB content is disabled and external web resources are restricted. Remote images in Markdown are not loaded automatically.

When a PDF requires an opening password, the app passes your input to the local reading engine for that opening. It does not send the password to the developer or write it to the library index or reading settings. Reading does not remove the password from, or rewrite, the original PDF.

If you choose a file from iCloud, cloud storage or another file provider, that service may first download the file or process your request under its own permissions, account settings and privacy policy.

4. System backups and device transfers

EasyRead has no developer-operated automatic cloud sync. However, the current version does not comprehensively disable operating-system backups or device transfers. Depending on your operating system, device manufacturer and settings, system services may back up or restore app files, library records and preferences.

Those services are controlled by their providers. Manage them in your device backup, iCloud or manufacturer settings. Removing a local file may not remove an existing backup; we cannot access or delete those backups on your behalf.

5. Retention and deletion

Library files and reading records generally remain until you remove them or clear app data:

  1. Clear recent history: use Clear records on the Recent screen to remove temporary file caches and corresponding records. Saved library files remain.
  2. Remove from library: the file moves to temporary local storage and remains accessible from Recent. To remove that temporary copy as well, then clear recent history.
  3. Remove app data: use Android's clear app storage function or delete the app and its data through your operating system. On iOS, Offload App can retain data; use Delete App to remove it. Manage system backup copies separately.

These actions do not delete originals, copies in other apps, cloud files or system backups. Additional file-provider caches are managed by those providers. Recovery copies created after a local error may remain in app storage; clearing all app data also removes those copies. There is no developer account to close.

6. This website and voluntary support contact

This website requires no login and includes no advertising, behavioral analytics scripts, tracking pixels, external fonts or third-party media embeds. It does not set analytics or marketing cookies. The site server does not keep routine access logs. Hosting and network services may still process IP addresses, request times, browser information, requested paths and necessary error or security logs to deliver pages and prevent abuse.

The website is hosted on a DigitalOcean server. Cloudflare provides DNS and, where enabled, proxy and security services. These providers may process website requests in different countries under their service terms. Security features may use strictly necessary cookies. See the DigitalOcean Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and attachments you choose to include. We use them to respond, troubleshoot and handle necessary security or legal matters. Please describe the issue and redact screenshots instead of sending private documents or PDF passwords. Support correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the matter; you may request deletion, subject to minimal legally required retention.

7. Your choices and rights

You can decline to import files, cancel password entry, remove library entries, clear recent history, and manage file-provider access and backups through your system settings. Core reading does not require account information or advertising tracking permission.

Manage on-device content through the app and operating system; we do not hold a server copy to retrieve or recover. For information you voluntarily provide in support correspondence, you can request access, correction, deletion or other applicable privacy rights using the email below. We handle requests under applicable law. You may also contact the competent data-protection authority where you live.

8. Security and children

The app uses operating-system storage isolation, and this website uses HTTPS. Protect your device with a screen lock, keep the system updated and handle file copies carefully. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

We do not actively collect children's personal information through the app. If a parent or guardian believes a child provided personal information in a support email, they can contact us to request review or deletion. Children should manage files, external services and backups with a guardian's guidance.

9. Updates and contact

We will update this page and its date when features or data practices change, and provide additional notice or request consent where applicable law requires it.
